PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The objective of this study is to develop sufficient documentation for the Department to obtain Location & Design Concept Acceptance (LDCA) for improvements to Krome Avenue between SW 296th Street and SW 136th Street. The study will look at improving safety and mobility along this highly traveled corridor, while being sensitive to the needs and concerns of the surrounding communities and preserving the agricultural and rural character of the area. This study will consider various improvement alternatives, strive to balance the safety and mobility needs with the communities' needs and values and develop a consensus on the recommended improvements.

The PD&E study is an integrated effort involving engineering analysis and environmental evaluation, all accomplished within the context of a pro-active and continuous public participation program. The class-of-action for this study will be an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The EIS process requires a comprehensive alternatives analysis, coupled with extensive inter-agency coordination and public involvement.
